What does it mean to be a man?

So much can be said about how men are supposed to be: Hero. Warrior. Provider. Stoic. Tough. But is that all there is to being a man? So much can be argued about what is considered manly and what is not. So much can be debated about the evolutionary reasons (real or imagined) for men's social and emotional makeup. Yet discussions or academic facts take us only so far.

At the end of the day, as men, we either feel at peace within ourselves or we don't.

Many of us, perhaps pressured by heavy internal or external demands, do little self-exploration in order to live the life we were born to live. We don't know what's holding us back as we grow more and more insensitive to our deepest needs. At these times, blaming ourselves, others, or society don't do any more good than do our ambitious social, professional, or spiritual goals.

We know that a challenging yet exciting journey needs to be taken to (slowly, but surely) free ourselves from the weight of past wounding and unhelpful social conditioning. The work we do at Brave Men Counselling is dedicated to such a journey: The Hero's Journey of Healing, Growth, and Self-Discovery.
